Beach Bunnies, Water Vixens, and Stud Muffins: The Glamourous World of Janzten Swimsuits

What began as the Portland Knitting Company in 1910, Jantzen was known for its heavy wool sweaters, gloves, and socks. Founders, Carl Jantzen and Roy Zehntbauer started making swimsuits in 1918 and then changed the company to Jantzen Knitting Mills. Their first bathing suit was made of wool! By the 1920s and the 1930s, the Jantzen company changed the basic swimsuit into something more modern and glamourous. Below are a few examples of the awesomely illustrated retro ads that have made Jantzen the leader in marketing since the 1920s!

These great ads should put you in the mood for a summer swim!! But before you head to the beach, check out our swimsuit inventory at Twirl Vintage Co.

Sincerely,
Monique, Twirl Vintage Co.
