☆ SHOP PREVIEW - AUGUST LOOKBOOK ☆

This month I exhibited a little weakness for jumpers. There is something so cute, simple, and even edgy about a good jumper. I don't think that I have ever been without one. They can be dressed down with a pair of flip flops or dressed up with a belt and heels. They are so versatile and stylish. I only have 3 here, but trust me, there is more where these came from. We will feature them in our Twirl Vintage Co. boutique in the coming week. If you have any questions about them, feel free to contact us.

☆ CHUNKY FUNKY - A Retro Shoe Review ☆

I can not resist, nor will I ever try to resist, the chunky funkiness of a  platform heel. No matter how unrealistic or whimsical, they are art for the feet and walking isn't always necessary. Sometimes you should just look at them for the style candy that they are.

☆But really, The 90s are Retro?☆

I can't believe that a time that only seemed like yesterday. No, really!! I can still hear the musical agony of teen rebellion called Nirvana.  And let us not forget the fashion worlds nose - dive into the dark dungeons of grunge and heroin chic; replete with overalls, and dingy lumberjack plaids. Hackeysack anyone?

But the 90s did have some less tragic moments. I mean that was the time of the...drumroll please..... SUPERMODEL!

We interrupt this blog post for a Drag queen moment: "Cindy...work mama!, Naomi...she is fierce! , Christy....foxy lady out of sight!" Okay, back to our regular blogger programming....

Teenagers with sex lives became the story line as Aaron Spelling resurrected Dynasty with a teeny bopper version called Beverly Hills 90210.  And we all tuned into the Dylan, Kelly, Brenda triangle and...... wait for it.....wait for it.....Donna Martin loses her virginity!  Oh the drama!

Nonetheless, the earlier 90s, my personal fav, were glamorous, colorful, golden, and full of big wind blown studio hair. VERSACE was King and we were all haunted by that damned perfectly placed Cindy Crawford mole!!! Who didn't want one?  You know you had that eyeliner pencil ready!! So here's to the 90s enjoy!!!

The cast of 90210 - How relieved were you when you discovered that they were 10 years past puberty?

I still adore Daria's dark wit and her annoying little sister Quinn.....

I told you it was a golden time and King Gianni was at the helm....

Supermodels - They really did rule the world, but at the cost of $20,000? Really?....

Doc Martens - the 90s take on the edgy rock princess meets Ska - boi.......

The Mole.....

Its still voted one of MTV's most controversial video premiers. It couldn't be aired until midnight....

I can't help it; it was a fashion heyday!!! Ok, no more Versace, I promise.....

"You better work"......

It was the movie that launched a million annoying Lisa Loeb radio requests..... "And you say..."

Groove is still in the heart!!! De - groovy, De - lovey, De - licious, Dee - Lite.....

Cross Colours were the rage and if we weren't in spandex, we were in our boyfriends baggy jeans....

He was always cute, but you know your heart stopped when he became.....

a Bad Boy.....

Uh, oh, the darkness descends...eeek, GRUNGE.....

Well you have to have somewhere to wear all that plaid and teen agnst on your sleeve....

The movie that rocked my world!! Oh, how I longed for those bangs....

There was nothing like hearing Smells Like Teen Spirit for the first time. It was like a door opened...

Marky Mark without the Funky Bunch and Kate Moss steam it up for Calvin Klein......

Hacky Sack anyone?................

The beginning of Apple's experimentation with color and the resurrection of the V - Bug......

Hip Hop loses two very talented men.........

A generation lost its voice.......

The Conners moved in ........

☆ Vintage Inspired is the New Fashion Enlightened! ☆

I am in love, love, love, with the fashion world's current appreciation for vintage. The look of the 50s - 90s has truly permeated the creative offices of many a fashion atelier!! Magical is only one of the many delightful words I use to describe this foray into Madmen inspired pencil skirts and Dior-esque wasp waisted A-line frocks. Its not only vintage inspired, its imagined, its perfection, its a fashion world enlightened!
